North Oatlands Animal Hospital & Reproduction Center has welcomed Dr. Leah Benjamin (formerly Dr. Leah Ramsaran), DVM, DACT, to its veterinary team, bringing board-certified expertise in small animal reproductive medicine to pet owners and breeders throughout Leesburg and the surrounding Northern Virginia region. Dr. Benjamin joined the practice in October 2026 and is now seeing patients for reproductive consultations, breeding management, and related specialty services at the hospital's dedicated Reproduction Center in Leesburg.
Dr. Benjamin earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Cornell University in 2023. She then completed a small animal rotating internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, D.C., before returning to Cornell University for a residency in Comparative Theriogenology. In 2026, she became a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists, earning board certification in theriogenology, a distinction held by a limited number of veterinarians nationwide and one that reflects years of advanced clinical training beyond general veterinary practice.
At North Oatlands, Dr. Benjamin focuses on the full scope of small animal reproduction, including breeding management, genetic preservation, and infertility management. She works closely with pet owners and professional breeders alike, offering personalized guidance through every stage of the reproductive process. Her arrival strengthens the hospital's standing as a regional destination for specialized reproductive guidance, and it expands services already offered through the hospital's Reproduction Center, including surgical artificial insemination and in-depth ultrasonography. Breeders managing complex fertility concerns now have direct access to a board-certified specialist without leaving the Leesburg area. Outside the clinic, Dr. Benjamin enjoys cooking, sculpting, reading, and hiking, and she shares her home with a dog and a cat of her own.
The addition of a board-certified theriogenologist reflects North Oatlands' ongoing investment in specialized veterinary care. The hospital's Reproduction Center already draws breeders and pet families from across the region, with some clients traveling several hours to access its reproductive and surgical services. Dr. Benjamin joins a growing team of veterinarians at the AAHA-accredited hospital, which continues to expand its specialty offerings for the Leesburg community and beyond, reinforcing its reputation as a trusted resource for advanced pet care in Loudoun County.
