Greenfield, Wisconsin, US, October 12, 2026 – Boss's Day lands on Friday, October 16
Every year, the same question appears: what do you say to the person who makes ‘see you on Monday’ feel like a good thing” and identifies your true potential? 123Greetings, the online greeting card destination, says the answer is simple: say something real, say it briefly, and say it on time.
Why bother? Boss's Day began in 1958, when an employee at State Farm in Illinois registered it as a way to thank the boss she worked for.
How to say it right:
1. Be specific: "Thanks for backing my idea in the Tuesday meeting" beats "Thanks for everything."
2. Keep it short: Two or three sentences are plenty. Nobody needs a speech.
3. Skip the pressure: Workplace experts, note that cards and gifts feel awkward when they are obligatory, so card comes more freely.
4. Send it on the day: An e-card reaches an inbox before the first meeting, wherever your team sits.

"A card is a tiny thing that does a big job," said Arvind Kajaria, Founder, 123Greetings. "A bad day at work can turn around on one honest sentence, and the best ones come from the heart, not a template.
