Patchogue Veterinary Hospital Blends Sweet Treats with Education at Ice Cream Social & Teddy Bear Clinic
Patchogue, NY — Paumanok Veterinary Hospital is excited to announce its upcoming Ice Cream Social and Teddy Bear Clinic, taking place on Saturday, August 16th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 639 Route 112, Patchogue, NY. This free event is open to children of all ages (with parent or guardian), and promises a perfect blend of fun, learning, and community connection.
Kids are invited to bring their favorite stuffed animal for a hands-on “Teddy Bear Check-Up” led by Dr. James Kuehn. Children will learn basic veterinary care practices, such as how to wrap “injured” teddy bear limbs with real bandages (materials provided). It’s an engaging way to reduce anxiety about vet visits and encourage early interest in animal care.
In addition to the learning experience, everyone can cool off with complimentary ice cream cones, meet the friendly Paumanok team, and enjoy a casual meet-and-greet with Dr. Kuehn himself.
“We believe in building trust and familiarity at a young age,” said Dr. James Kuehn. “Events like these are not only fun—they help children become more comfortable with the idea of caring for pets and understanding what veterinarians do.”
Paumanok Veterinary Hospital also uses this opportunity to promote the importance of dental health in pets. Studies by the American Veterinary Dental College reveal that by age 3, most dogs and cats show early signs of periodontal disease. Without treatment, this can lead to chronic pain and internal organ damage. That’s why Paumanok offers advanced dental care services including cleanings, extractions, and digital dental X-rays.
