16th January 2026 New Delhi India–Israel Fisheries Cooperation to Strengthen Blue Economy, Exports and Rural Incomes: PHDCCI

Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh’s visit to Israel to participate in the Second Global Summit on Blue Food Security: Sea the Future 2026 aimed at deepening India–Israel cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture with a strong focus on productivity enhancement and trade expansion

“The fisheries sector, a critical pillar of India’s blue economy, contribute substantially to agricultural GDP, exports and employment. Visit focused on using Israel’s advanced technologies in mariculture, recirculatory aquaculture systems, and disease management will improve India’s yield per hectare and mitigate disease-related risks”, said Mr. Rajeev Juneja, President, PHDCCI.

A Joint Ministerial Declaration of Intent on Cooperation in Fisheries and Aquaculture, will lay the foundation for technology transfer, and joint research and development. These are expected to support higher value-added production, diversification into high-value species, and expansion of export-oriented aquaculture, thereby strengthening India’s foreign exchange earnings from marine and inland fisheries, he added.

Improved productivity and quality standards are expected to help Indian seafood exports access premium international markets, he said. India–Israel engagement reinforces fisheries and aquaculture as engines of export competitiveness and sustainable blue economy development, with alignment of technological cooperation with economic gains for producers, processors and exporters. Investment in disease management, water efficiency and high-value species diversification will strengthen farm-level profitability, and generate sustainable income and employment across the fisheries value chain, particularly for small and marginal fishers said Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, CEO & Secretary General, PHDCCI.
