Meanwhile, statewide drug overdose deaths rose to 2,390 in 2021. These numbers underscore a rising demand for accessible substance abuse and mental health care.

Comprehensive Counseling Services, LLC (“CCS”) announces significant enhancements to its substance abuse and mental health programs serving Barrow County. These enhancements include expanded outpatient support, improved drug and alcohol evaluations, and new relapse prevention tools. Strengthened Relapse Prevention Supports: Group sessions, peer support connections, and tools to anticipate triggers and build resilience against setbacks.

CCS is also investing in training more staff to deliver trauma-informed care. This ensures that both substance abuse treatment and mental health support are delivered in environments that feel safe and respectful to all clients.

These program enhancements respond to growing local needs. Barrow County currently faces provider shortages: there is approximately one mental health professional for every 3,721 residents, and uninsured rates for health care hover around 21%. By strengthening its services, CCS aims to decrease barriers and reach more people in need.
