Voice-Controlled Camera App Shootsolo Now Records Portrait and Landscape in a Single Take, Adds Teleprompter and More

Shootsolo, the free voice-controlled camera app for solo creators, now records portrait and landscape video in a single take and adds a teleprompter, virtual studio lights and background effects.

BEIRUT, Lebanon, October 1, 2026. Shootsolo, the voice-controlled video camera app and AI filming assistant for solo content creators, has released its biggest update since launch. The app now records portrait and landscape video at the same time, so one take produces a vertical video for Reels, TikTok and Shorts and a horizontal one for YouTube, with no re-filming and no cropping in an editor. The update also adds a built-in teleprompter, virtual studio lights and background effects, and drops the credits system, making recording free and unlimited.

Shootsolo was built to solve a problem every solo creator knows: filming yourself means running back and forth to the phone, then scrolling through dozens of failed takes to find the good one. With Shootsolo, creators control the camera with their voice. They say “Start Recording” to begin and “Stop Recording” to end, from anywhere in the room, without touching the phone. When a take ends, the app asks “Save take?” and the creator simply answers “Yes” or “No” out loud. Bad takes are discarded on the spot, so they never fill up the phone’s storage or camera roll, and there is nothing to sort through afterwards.

The update extends that idea from the camera operator to the rest of the crew. The teleprompter holds the script, the studio lights shape the look, the background effects handle the set, and dual-format recording removes the need to re-film or re-crop for different platforms.

“I’ve listened to my users and added all the features they requested most,” says Karim Muhtar, creator of Shootsolo.

How Shootsolo Works

- Hands-Free Voice Control: Say “Start Recording” and “Stop Recording” to control the camera from across the room. No running back to the phone, no countdown timers and no remote needed.

- Save or Discard Every Take: After each take, Shootsolo asks “Save take?” and creators answer “Yes” or “No” by voice, or with a tap. Only the good takes are kept, so the phone doesn’t fill up with bad ones. Creators who prefer to keep everything can turn on auto-save.

- Front and Back Cameras: Switch between the front and back cameras and between lens zoom levels, so creators can frame the shot exactly the way they want.

What’s New in Shootsolo

- Portrait + Landscape at Once: Record a single take and save it in both portrait and landscape at the same time. A live preview of the second format shows how both framings look before recording. Film once and post to Reels, TikTok, Shorts and YouTube with no re-filming and no cropping in an editor.

- Built-In Teleprompter: Read a script on screen while recording, with adjustable scroll speed, text size and margins, so creators stay on message and keep eye contact with the lens.

- Virtual Studio Lights: Add adjustable spotlights and colored RGB lights to the shot, then reposition them, recolor them and change their intensity. No physical lighting kit is needed.

- Background Effects and Filters: Background blur, green screen and grey screen, a skin smoothing filter, and brightness, contrast and exposure controls. What creators see on screen is exactly what is recorded.

- New Voice Commands: “Pause Recording” and “Resume Recording” to hold and continue a take, and “Play Video” and “Close Video” to review it in the new built-in player. Each command’s keyword can be switched in settings to another preset, such as “And Action” and “And Cut” to start and stop.

- Pro Tools: Recording in up to 4K with a choice of frame rate, Bluetooth shutter remote support, external microphone support, a composition grid, a safe-zone overlay for portrait and landscape, and an optional prompt to rename each clip right after recording.

- Free and Unlimited: The credits system is gone. There are no ads, no watermark and no subscription, and the app works fully offline.

Who It’s For

Solo content creators, YouTubers, TikTokers, Instagrammers, podcasters, educators, coaches, musicians, fitness and cooking creators, and business professionals. It is for anyone who films themselves and wants a faster, easier way to create high-quality video without a crew.

Why It Matters

Most creators now publish every video in two shapes, and until now that meant filming twice or re-cropping each video in an editor. Solo creators also usually need a separate teleprompter app, physical lights and a green screen to get a polished result, and they lose time walking to the phone between takes and deleting the bad ones afterwards. Shootsolo now brings all of that into one voice-controlled camera, so creators can spend their time creating and not setting up.

Creator tip: because every phone running Shootsolo responds to the same voice command, some creators set up several phones and start them all at once, capturing multiple angles to combine in editing.

Traction

Since launching in July 2025, Shootsolo has passed 7,000 downloads and is used by more than 1,100 creators every month. It has received positive reviews on both the App Store and Google Play.
