Brazilian singer and songwriter Maloca Johnson announces the release of his album Heating Solitude, marking the beginning of a nine-album series planned for release across major digital platforms by 2027. The project is the result of five years of independent production, creative development and artistic reinvention.
Before becoming Maloca Johnson, Alexandre Ruszczyk built his career in science. He worked as a biologist and university professor in Brazil, completing pioneering academic research in Urban Ecology. But over time, music and writing, which had always been present in his life, became more than a parallel passion. It turns in a new direction.
Music became a new way of understanding and expressing everyday life, transforming personal reflections and observations into songs that combine emotional honesty, irony and contemporary themes, he says.
Leaving academia behind, he embraced a fully independent artistic path, blending music, poetry and storytelling to explore the emotional and social complexities of modern urban life.
As his work reaches listeners worldwide through digital platforms, Maloca Johnson is now expanding his international presence and sees Australia as a meaningful destination for future connection and cultural exchange.
Australia has a unique energy and a strong independent music culture. It is a place that inspires creativity, and I would love to share my music there and connect with people through live performances, he says.
His authorial debut is marked by two original albums, Heating Solitude and Blue World, which introduce his sound to global audiences.
Released on October 6th, 2025, Heating Solitude brings together eight original tracks that explore themes such as love, loneliness, technology and urban existence. The album combines rock influences with elements of bossa nova, using sarcasm, humor and accessible language to reflect contemporary emotional experiences.
Songs such as Wrong Foot, Challenger and Jumping Letters highlight the album’s introspective and observational tone, addressing emotional distance, human vulnerability and modern digital life.
The second album, Blue World, scheduled for global release in April 2026, expands this artistic universe with eleven tracks ranging from rock compositions to intimate ballads. The project also includes a Chinese-language version of one of the songs reflecting the artist’s openness to global audiences and cultural dialogue.
The albums feature collaborations with musicians from southern Brazil’s independent music scene, including guitarist João Carlos da Silva, the pianists Rodrigo Tranquilo and Renato Dall Ago, and the multi-instrumentalist Leandro Schirmer.
One of the tracks that reflects a lighter and more carefree dimension of his work is The Vikings.
The song The Vikings has this sunny, free energy. It makes me think of the ocean, warm days and that feeling of freedom you get in the summer. I can easily imagine it connecting with the Australian summer and its beach culture, he says.
Through his independent releases, Maloca Johnson presents a body of work shaped by reinvention, personal exploration and the search for connection through music across cultures and borders.
Heating Solitude is currently available on major digital platforms worldwide. Blue World will be released globally in April 2026.
