The Union Budget 2026 emerges as a visionary, balanced, and people-centric document that goes far beyond fiscal accounting and presents a clear socio-economic development roadmap for India. This budget places villages, farmers, women, youth, and entrepreneurship at the core of national development, sending a strong message that India’s future will be shaped by inclusive and grassroots-driven growth. It reinforces the belief that development must reach the last mile and that villages must evolve from being beneficiaries of progress to becoming drivers of growth.

I express my heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi for consistently demonstrating that India’s true strength lies in its villages, women, and youth. His leadership continues to guide the nation toward self-reliance, inclusion, and empowerment. This budget is a reflection of that philosophy, where development is no longer city-centric but reaches the grassroots, and where policy aims to democratize opportunities.

The renewed emphasis on rural infrastructure, connectivity, and local economic ecosystems indicates that the government sees villages as active contributors to national prosperity. When villages are strengthened, local employment grows, migration reduces, micro-enterprises flourish, and social stability improves. Gramya has long believed that the soul of India resides in its villages, and it is encouraging to see this vision increasingly reflected in national policy.

Women-led development stands out as one of the most transformative pillars of this budget. The continued focus on women’s entrepreneurship, Self-Help Groups, and financial inclusion is not merely a social intervention but a powerful economic strategy. The announcement of Self-Help Entrepreneur (SHE) Marts is a progressive step that connects women not only to production but also to markets, branding, and enterprise growth. When a woman becomes economically empowered, the impact extends beyond the household to entire communities and future generations. Gramya’s Mission Shakti has been working on the same philosophy by equipping women with skills, financial literacy, and market access so they can become confident entrepreneurs.

It is noteworthy that Gramya has already implemented a practical and scalable model through Gramya Stores, which operate in both online and offline formats. These platforms connect thousands of rural women entrepreneurs and Self-Help Groups to structured markets, enabling direct market access, fair pricing, brand identity, and sustainable enterprise growth. Dairy products, agricultural produce, handicrafts, and value-added food items are now reaching consumers directly from villages. This model represents a shift from dependency to ownership and from beneficiaries to business leaders. Expanding such models nationally can significantly accelerate rural women’s entrepreneurship.

The budget’s emphasis on agriculture and allied sectors signals strong support for farmer income enhancement and value addition. Gramya’s Mission Annapurna integrates women into dairy development, nutrition-based farming, and local processing systems. This approach improves rural incomes while strengthening nutrition security. The path to self-reliant villages runs through agricultural resilience and nutrition empowerment, and the budget rightly recognizes this linkage.

Dairy remains a lifeline of the rural economy, yet its full potential often remains untapped due to lack of scientific guidance. Gramya-supported Village Dairy Counsellor models provide farmers with technical knowledge in scientific dairy practices, animal nutrition, preventive healthcare, and quality improvement. Such decentralized advisory systems not only increase productivity but also generate rural employment and create a more organized dairy ecosystem.

The push for digital governance presents a historic opportunity for rural India. Digital platforms and e-governance systems enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in service delivery. Gramya’s e-Panchayat initiatives demonstrate how technology can improve beneficiary tracking, reduce leakages, and ensure better implementation of schemes. Digitally empowered villages will form the foundation of a digitally strong India.

India’s youth represent its greatest demographic advantage. Skill development, innovation, and entrepreneurship must converge to transform rural youth into job creators rather than job seekers. With proper training, mentorship, and exposure, rural youth can compete globally. The budget’s focus on youth empowerment strengthens the confidence that India’s young population will be equipped for future opportunities.

The strengthening of the Khelo India mission is a decision of long-term national importance. Sports are not only about medals; they build discipline, confidence, leadership, and national pride. Rural India holds immense untapped sporting talent, and with the right ecosystem, world-class athletes can emerge from villages. As Vice President of the Karate Association of India, I firmly believe that India’s next sporting icons will come from rural backgrounds when given the right opportunities and infrastructure.

Any budget ultimately succeeds through effective implementation. Last-mile delivery, community participation, transparency, and local leadership will determine the real impact. Gramya remains committed to partnering with institutions and stakeholders to translate policy intent into ground-level transformation.

I once again extend my gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India for placing villages, women, and youth at the center of development. “Prosperous Villages, Prosperous India” is not merely a vision but a shared national resolve of 1.4 billion Indians. When villages become self-reliant, women become entrepreneurs, youth become skilled, and sports culture grows stronger, India will stand as a global model of inclusive development. Gramya remains fully dedicated to nation-building through women empowerment, dairy development, rural entrepreneurship, digital governance, and sports promotion.
