Shia scholar Maulana Hassan Ali Rajani calls for global probe into Iran-linked madrasas and mosques, says they must remain centres of education and peace.
New Delhi, October 4 - Prominent Shia scholar and leader Maulana Hassan Ali Rajani has demanded transparent and impartial investigations into the activities of madrasas, mosques, imambargahs and religious institutions across the world which face allegations of political influence by foreign states or organisations.
Speaking in Delhi, Maulana Rajani said religious educational institutions should remain centres for promotion of education, morality and peace, and should not be exploited for the political or military agendas of any nation.
He stressed that wherever evidence of legal violations, hate speech, extremism or illegal foreign funding is found, the concerned governments should take action in accordance with the law.
According to him, instead of collectively blaming a specific religious or sectarian group, the focus should remain on proven activities and responsible individuals.
Maulana Rajani noted that Shia madrasas, mosques and imambargahs affiliated with Iran appear to play a significant role in destabilizing various countries, which is why many nations have now closed such institutions - a move he wholeheartedly welcomes.
He further warned that Shia madrasas, mosques and imambargahs around the world are centres of education and peace and Iran should not turn them into bases for its military agendas, otherwise the situation in Muslim countries around the world could become worse than Gaza, Palestine.
