TSUL delegation participates in the Asia Competition Association (ACA) 2025 Conference in Seoul on “Competition Law and Policy in the Digital Economy,” joining experts to discuss Asia’s evolving digital market regulations.

A Convergence of Digital Economy and Competition Law
As Asia’s digital economy grows at an unprecedented pace, the need for updated regulatory approaches has become evident. Scholars note that competition in digital ecosystems now defines not only market relations but also geopolitical strategies, as countries navigate issues of platform dominance, data control, and cross-border digital mergers.
At ACA 2025, experts from across the continent explore these intersections, sharing insights on balancing innovation with fair market practices. The TSUL delegation, led by Acting Rector, Doctor of Laws, Professor Islambek Rustambekov, is contributing to discussions on comparative approaches to competition policy, digital economy law, and academic cooperation across Asia.
Central Asia’s Voice in Asia’s Legal Discourse
For Uzbekistan and the wider Central Asian region, participation in such a prestigious conference represents more than symbolic engagement — it signals a deepening integration into Asia’s academic and regulatory dialogue. In recent years, Uzbekistan’s legal and economic reforms have increasingly emphasized competition, transparency, and the digital economy.
TSUL’s involvement in ACA 2025 reflects its strategic focus on:
Advancing academic diplomacy and establishing long-term partnerships with Asian universities and research centers.
Strengthening comparative law research in areas such as antitrust policy, digital regulation, and cross-border legal harmonization.
Preparing globally competent jurists equipped to navigate emerging legal challenges in technology-driven economies.
As digital regulation becomes a geopolitical issue, the dialogue extends beyond economics into the realm of governance and diplomacy. The Diplomat previously noted that competition in digital technologies increasingly serves as a “framework for digital diplomacy.” For TSUL, participating in ACA 2025 situates Uzbekistan within this conversation — one that shapes how law and policy adapt to global digital transformation.
TSUL’s growing presence at international platforms, from The Hague Academy to the ACA conference, showcases Uzbekistan’s readiness to contribute to the architecture of digital-era governance and to exchange expertise with East and Southeast Asian partners.
Through research collaboration, academic exchange, and participation in regional policy networks, TSUL aims to enhance its role as a bridge between Central Asia and the Asia-Pacific legal community. The insights and partnerships emerging from ACA 2025 are expected to support Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms in competition law and digital regulation, while reinforcing TSUL’s vision of becoming a hub for globally connected legal scholarship.
