Mahindra has unveiled the Scorpio Lifestyler, its new global midsize pickup, which is expected to launch in India by April 2027. The starting price is planned to be below Rs 19.79 lakh ex-showroom. For international markets, the pickup will be sold under the Mahindra Lifestyler name, while India will get the Scorpio Lifestyler badge.
The pickup was first shown as a concept in Cape Town, South Africa, in August 2023. Since then, Mahindra has developed it as a global product aimed at customers who want a pickup that can handle work, travel, outdoor activities and normal everyday driving. It has been designed at Mahindra India Design Studio in Mumbai and developed at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai.
The Scorpio Lifestyler is based on Mahindra's next-generation body-on-frame platform. This type of construction is commonly used in vehicles designed to carry heavy loads and handle rough roads. Mahindra says the pickup has been developed with a focus on capability, durability, safety, technology and comfort, with feedback from customers across different markets.
Mahindra wants the pickup to work for both professional and personal use. The company describes this as "payload and playload", meaning it can carry equipment during the week and be used for outdoor trips on weekends.
The Scorpio Lifestyler will be available in three different editions, each aimed at a different type of buyer. The Valley Edition focuses on a mix of work and leisure. It gets an Artemis Grey finish. The Reef Edition is aimed at buyers who enjoy travel and outdoor activities. It gets an Aquareef finish inspired by the changing colours of the ocean and has a more adventure-focused character.
The Trail Edition is the most rugged-looking version of the three. It gets a Sahara Beige finish inspired by desert landscapes for the buyers looking for a more adventurous pickup.
The three editions are based on the same pickup, but each one is designed for a different type of buyer. The Valley Edition focuses more on comfort and everyday use, the Reef Edition is made for buyers who enjoy travel and outdoor activities, while the Trail Edition gets rugged look for those looking for adventure-focused pickup.
Mahindra is developing the pickup for markets including Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, other African markets, the Middle East and Latin America. Since these markets have different road conditions and regulations, the Lifestyler has been developed as a global product from the start.
The Scorpio Lifestyler will combine pickup capability, modern technology, safety features, premium design and everyday practicality. Mahindra will also use its experience in international pickup markets for the India launch. The company expects demand for pickups to grow among Indian buyers looking for vehicles for both work and personal use. The Scorpio Lifestyler can be used for family trips, outdoor activities and long-distance travel, apart from carrying loads.
The Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to launch in India by April 2027, with prices starting below Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Mahindra has not revealed its full specifications yet. The pickup will combine off-road capability, SUV-like comfort and everyday practicality.
