RetroStyle Games has announced the return of Zombie Run, a classic mobile endless runner that first appeared during the early days of smartphone gaming. The new edition of the game is now available for modern iOS and Android devices with upgraded graphics, technical improvements and additional content.

Zombie Run puts players in charge of a slightly ridiculous zombie who is much better at sprinting than shambling. The character dashes through a ruined city while the player swipes to jump, slide and switch lanes in order to avoid obstacles, collect coins and stay alive for as long as possible. The short, high tempo runs are intended to fill a few minutes on the bus, in a queue or during a break.

For the relaunch, the team at RetroStyle Games revisited almost every aspect of the original project. Backgrounds, character models and effects have been repainted using the studio's current art pipelines so that the game looks sharper on high resolution screens. Controls were tuned to feel more responsive and the user interface was simplified to be easier to read on smaller devices.

The new version also introduces more for players to chase. Additional playable characters and outfits can be unlocked over time, along with cosmetic upgrades that allow players to customize the look of their undead runner. New hazards and variations in the level layout have been added so that experienced players still encounter surprises as they improve their high scores.
