Devon Playground Manufacturer Rhino Play Expands Into South Wales

Devon-based playground designer and manufacturer Rhino Play is now taking on projects across South Wales, including Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Bridgend.

Rhino Play, the Devon-based designer, manufacturer and installer of commercial playground equipment, is now taking on projects across South Wales. Schools, councils, community groups and leisure sites in Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Bridgend and the surrounding areas can now book a free, no-obligation site visit with the team.

The move is the latest step in a year of growth for Rhino Play, which has delivered projects well beyond its South West heartland in 2026. Recent installations include a new traverse at Walter Infants in Wokingham, a Kenton Quad climbing frame in Shrivenham, a play tower at the Crown Inn in Old Basing, Hampshire, and an EYFS redesign at Elmlea Infant and Junior School in Bristol.

South Wales is a natural next step. Its schools, parks and coastal sites face many of the same challenges as the South West: wet winters, exposed locations and heavy, year-round use. These are the conditions Rhino Play's equipment is built for.

Customers in South Wales will have access to the full Rhino Play service and range, including:

• Free site visits and bespoke design, with every layout planned around the space, the age group and the budget.
• Timber and recycled plastic equipment, manufactured to order in Rhino Play's Devon workshops, with a 30-year guarantee on recycled plastic and 15 years on timber.
• Full supply and installation, from trim trails and climbing frames to outdoor classrooms, seating and shelters.
• Safety surfacing, including bonded rubber mulch, wet pour and artificial grass.
• Equipment built to BS EN 1176/1177, the British and European standards for playground equipment.

Recycled plastic has become one of Rhino Play's most requested materials. Made in the UK from plastic diverted from landfill, it will not rot, split or splinter and never needs re-staining, which makes it particularly well suited to damp and coastal sites.

Stuart Hunt, Head of Sales at Rhino Play, said:

"We have been getting more and more enquiries from across the Severn, so extending into South Wales felt like the right next step. The schools and councils we speak to there want the same things as our customers in the South West: play spaces that last, that cope with the weather, and that are designed around the children who will actually use them.

"Every project still starts the same way, with a free site visit and a design built around the space and the budget. Whether it is a primary school playground in Cardiff or a village play area outside Swansea, we will bring the same care and attention to detail we always have.

"We are really looking forward to working with more schools and communities in South Wales over the coming year."
