Mayor Ramey’s Silence: Westminster Families Betrayed by Leadership Failure

Posted November 13, 2025 by rob1jones

While residents struggle with poverty and soaring utility costs, Mayor Brian Ramey has stood idle, enabling mismanagement and betraying the people he was elected to serve.

Westminster, South Carolina — Families in Westminster face electric rates of approximately 16.5¢ per kilowatt hour, a median household income of just $38,393, and nearly 24% living in poverty. Yet Mayor Brian Ramey, in office since 2015, has failed to protect residents from the arrogance and neglect of city leadership.

Under Ramey’s watch, City Administrator Kevin Bronson secured a raise to $142,000 per year — nearly four times the average household income — while locking Westminster into costly PMPA contracts that bleed the town dry. Bronson doesn’t even live in Westminster, and he hides behind his assistant to avoid citizen concerns.

The mayor’s silence is complicity. As the elected leader, Ramey should have stood with residents, demanded transparency, and fought for relief. Instead, he has presided over a government that enriches itself while families struggle to keep the lights on.

A Call to Action
Westminster deserves leaders who live among them, listen to them, and fight for them. Residents must demand transparency, accountability, and change.

The Bottom Line
Mayor Ramey’s failure to act has betrayed the people he was elected to serve. His silence has allowed Bronson’s arrogance to flourish, utility rates to soar, and poverty to deepen.

The Demand
Enough is enough. Mayor Brian Ramey must be held accountable. Westminster deserves leaders who fight for families, not protect mismanagement.
