Amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Roba Joudah, a young student pursuing a career as a medical secretary, is calling on the global community for urgent support after her family lost their home due to the war.

Now living in a temporary tent that offers little protection from extreme weather conditions, Roba and her family of eight face daily challenges securing basic necessities such as food, clean water, and warmth.

“My family lost everything. We are trying to survive each day with very limited resources,” Roba shared. “This campaign is our hope to find safety and continue living with dignity.”

Roba’s story reflects the devastating impact of war on education and livelihoods. Her university was destroyed, halting her studies. Her siblings have faced similar disruptions:

One brother, a law student, was forced to stop his education
Another, trained in engineering, is unable to find work
A pharmacy student has not been able to graduate
Her younger sister, a high-performing student preparing for final exams, continues studying under extreme conditions

The family also includes two young children, Maher and Jad. Maher, just two years old when the war began, has grown up surrounded by the sounds of conflict. Jad was born during the war and has never experienced a stable environment.

The fundraiser, organized by Roba’s friend Ashtyn Korytkowski in Michigan, USA, aims to raise $10,000 to provide essential humanitarian relief, including shelter, food, blankets, and basic survival needs.

So far, the campaign has raised $1,989, but urgent support is still needed to reach the goal and provide immediate assistance.

“This is purely humanitarian,” said Ashtyn. “Every contribution goes directly toward helping Roba’s family survive and rebuild some sense of stability.”
