Value Financial Protection Reminds Medicare Beneficiaries to Review Coverage During 2026 AEP

The Georgia insurance agency encourages beneficiaries to compare doctors, prescriptions, and costs before the October 15 to December 7 enrollment window closes.

Georgia–10/09/26: Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) runs from October 15 to December 7, 2026, and plan changes made during this window generally take effect on January 1, 2027, according to Medicare.gov. Value Financial Protection, a Georgia insurance agency, is reminding beneficiaries to review their Medicare Advantage and Part D coverage before the deadline. Its licensed Advisors offer Medicare open enrollment help in Georgia at no cost.
During AEP, people with Medicare can join, switch, or drop a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan. Those enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan can also return to Original Medicare. For changes to start on January 1, the plan must receive the enrollment request by December 7.
Plans can change from year to year. Medicare Advantage and Part D plans send members an Annual Notice of Change that outlines updates to premiums, deductibles, copays, and covered services for the coming year. Reviewing that notice early gives beneficiaries time to compare their options before the window closes.
“Open enrollment is a good time to pause and ask whether your plan still fits your doctors, your prescriptions, and your budget,” said Latonia Henry, founder of Value Financial Protection. “Plans can change, and those changes are easy to miss. Our Advisors explain your options in plain language, without pressure, so you can make the decision that fits your situation.”
The agency suggests starting with a simple checklist: current doctors, prescriptions, preferred pharmacy, and monthly budget. Beneficiaries comparing Medicare Advantage plans may also want to review provider networks, referral rules, and out-of-pocket limits. Those with Original Medicare can check how Medicare Part D plans cover their medications and whether their pharmacy is included.
Medicare Supplement (Medigap) works differently. Medicare Supplement plans are sold by private insurers to help with costs that Original Medicare does not fully cover, and they follow their own enrollment timing.
A review can matter for many households, including beneficiaries managing chronic conditions, veterans, people who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid, and adult children helping a parent compare plans. The agency also offers caregiver support for Medicare decisions, so family members can take part in the review.
With AEP opening October 15, beneficiaries have time to review their options before the December 7 deadline. To request a free Medicare consultation or elsewhere in Georgia, visit valuefinancialprotection.com or call 678-449-7197. Advisors can explain the plans the agency offers in each area.
