Anant Ashray in Karjat: what the 1 November announcement actually says

Reliance Foundation broke ground on Anant Ashray on 1 November 2026, a proposed 100-acre not-for-profit care township in Karjat for orphaned children, senior citizens and people with disabilities.

Karjat in Raigad district has been named as the site of Anant Ashray, a proposed social-care township announced by Nita Mukesh Ambani on 1 November 2026. Developed by Reliance Foundation, the project is planned as a permanent, not-for-profit residential institution across approximately 100 acres, for orphaned children, senior citizens and people with disabilities.

The announcement puts the planned resident population at more than 5,000. Including caregivers, medical professionals, support staff and their families, the wider community is estimated at around 15,000 people. The Bhumi Pujan and groundbreaking ceremony took place on 1 November.

Facilities described in reports on the announcement include family-style residential homes, healthcare facilities with a hospital, education and skill-development centres, gardens, farms, playgrounds, workshops, a temple and shared community spaces. The Indian Express has reported that the township is expected to include eight residential villages named after sacred rivers, where children would live with house parents and caregivers.

Several details are not yet public. These include the detailed master plan, the construction timeline, the approvals required for each phase, operating arrangements for healthcare and education, and the project's relationship with nearby villages and local infrastructure. Development is expected to proceed in phases, subject to approvals.

Anant Ashray is not a residential sale project. No homes or plots are on offer, and the announcement does not refer to land prices in the area. Any wider effect on Karjat will depend on how the facilities are built and operated over the coming years.
Karjat's residential land market continues on a separate track. Plotted communities such as BluBay by ORA(https://blubay.in/) Land, a 60-acre development of 325 NA plots in Halivali, are unrelated to Anant Ashray and serve a different purpose entirely.

A summary of the announced details and the questions still open is available on Mumbai Property Decoded.(https://mumbaidecoded.substack.com/p/anant-ashray-in-karjat-what-has-been) Further updates are expected as the master plan and approvals progress.
