SoloThinking Launches "How Long Will I Live?" Free Life Expectancy Calculator
SoloThinking has officially launched its redesigned "How Long Will I Live? Free Life Expectancy Calculator," a science-backed online tool that helps individuals understand how their daily lifestyle choices may impact their lifespan.
The calculator answers one of life's most fundamental questions in under two minutes. Unlike generic tools that rely solely on age and gender, this calculator uses peer-reviewed research from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), The Lancet, JAMA, and the New England Journal of Medicine.
How the Calculator Works
Users answer seven simple questions about their age, biological sex, smoking status, exercise frequency, sleep duration, stress levels, and social connections. The tool then provides a personalized estimate of their remaining years and days, along with the probability of reaching age 90 or age 100.
The science behind the numbers is straightforward. Smoking can reduce life expectancy by up to 10 years for heavy daily smokers. Exercising five or more times per week can add three to four and a half years. Sleeping seven to nine hours nightly adds two to three years. Chronic stress can subtract up to 2.3 years. Strong social connections can add up to three years.
More Than Just a Number
The calculator does not stop at giving an estimate. After users receive their results, they can explore an interactive "What If" section. This feature allows them to see how changing one habit—quitting smoking, adding more exercise, or improving sleep—could affect their lifespan in real time.
The tool also generates a personalized action plan with specific tips based on the user's responses. A smoker who exercises rarely will see recommendations about quitting smoking and adding daily movement. A stressed individual will receive stress management suggestions.
Built on Trusted Research
Every adjustment in the calculator is backed by published studies. The Million Veteran Program study of 720,000 people confirmed that lifestyle choices account for 70 to 80 percent of lifespan variation. A 2025 OHSU study found that sleep quality has a stronger link to longevity than diet or exercise alone.
SoloThinking cites all of its sources, so users never have to wonder where the numbers came from.
Completely Free, No Signup Required
Most life expectancy tools are either too complicated, locked behind paywalls, or designed to collect user data for marketing purposes. SoloThinking took a different approach.
The "How Long Will I Live?" calculator is completely free. No signup is required. No email address is needed. No personal data is stored. Every calculation runs entirely in the user's browser. Nothing is sent to any server.
Why SoloThinking Built This Tool
SoloThinking founder Abdullah Saleem explained the motivation behind the project.
"I searched for a simple, science-based life expectancy tool and found that everything was either paywalled or outdated. So I built one myself. Our goal is to make longevity science free, simple, and accessible to everyone, anywhere."
