Under the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, eligible households and small businesses can receive around 30% discount on the upfront cost of installing small-scale battery systems (5 kWh to 100 kWh) attached to new or existing solar installations.

Wide availability throughout Victoria: The program will be extended to metropolitan and regional areas, subject to installer accreditation and local compliance.

Eligibility & How to Participate

To qualify under the Cheaper Home Batteries Program, interested homeowners should note:
Eligible battery systems must have nominal capacity between 5 kWh and 100 kWh.
The discount is typically applied upfront by the installer or retailer.


Only batteries paired with a solar PV system (existing or new) are eligible; systems storing energy solely from the grid are not eligible.
The chosen battery and inverter must be listed on the Clean Energy Council’s approved lists at the time of installation.
Eligible installations must comply with relevant state/territory electrical safety regulations and certification.
