Zurich and West Hollywood-based production company Star Class Films is developing Breakdown, a feature film inspired by the legendary silent-era science fiction film Metropolis. The project is currently in scripting, with a planned release date in 2027. Actor Remo Vinzens is attached to play the leading role, while pre-production and team announcements are expected in the coming months.

Breakdown aims to reinterpret the core ideas of Metropolis—such as societal divide, technology’s role in human life, and the struggle between power and empathy—through a modern cinematic lens. While staying true to the essence of the original, the new version introduces contemporary themes, expanded character arcs, and a visual tone geared toward today’s audiences.
