What began as a 179-mile peaceful protest to demand that Congress not cut funding for
pediatric cancer research & treatment has grown into something even more powerful: a
movement to build hope itself. Now 83.8 miles in, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 9:30
a.m., from 3328 Columbia Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603, Latanya Morrison (Founder &
Executive Director of the Ahmad Butler Foundation) and Keith Morrison (Board Member) will
continue their 179-mile journey to Washington, D.C., a peaceful walk demanding that Congress does not cut funding in 2026 for pediatric cancer research and treatment.

On November 12, 2025, as they cross into Maryland, the Morrisons will be joined by Jordan
Blount, ABF Board President and Director of the Blount Brothers Military Support Division
of the Ahmad Butler Foundation, and his wife, Dajia Blount, residents of Baltimore,
Maryland. The Blounts tragically lost both of their sons, Gavin (age 6) and Bryson (age 5), to
pediatric cancer just ten months apart. Together, Jordan and Dajia founded the Blount
Brothers Military Support Division, a program within the Ahmad Butler Foundation created to
ensure that no other active-duty military parent faces the same isolation and challenges the
Blounts experienced while deployed at sea during their son’s illnesses.

A U.S. Navy Petty Officer, Jordan, leads the division with a mission to provide military families,
both domestic and abroad, with guidance, resources, and emotional support when a child is
diagnosed with cancer.

Together, these families, united by loss but driven by purpose, will continue their journey toward the nation’s capital, carrying a message of love, urgency, and hope for every child and family fighting this disease.

Their walk is both a movement and a mission, an act of advocacy and a fundraiser to build the
Ahmad Butler Foundation Family Support & Resource Center, a permanent home where
families of children battling cancer will find care, comfort, and community.

Each step is a statement. Each mile is a promise. And every donation brings them closer to
turning this vision into reality, transforming heartbreak into hope and protest into progress. Their protest is the foundation. Their walk is the blueprint. Their love is the brick and mortar of a future that refuses to give up on kids who are fighting for their lives. Media are invited to follow the journey and learn more about how these grandparents, parents, and the Ahmad Butler Foundation are turning protest into progress.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Supporters who want to do more than call their Congressman and Senators can help make an
impact. Donations to the 179 Miles for Kids With Cancer Campaign will help the Ahmad Butler
Foundation expand its programs and lay the groundwork for the Ahmad Butler Foundation
Family Support & Resource Center, a space built from every step, every mile, and every act
of love along the way.
