FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
From pit looms in Odisha to bedrooms across the country, theindiglobal is turning traditional weaving into a livelihood that actually pays
New Delhi, June 18, 2026 theindiglobal, an Indian handloom and cotton textile brand, has built its entire supply chain around one principle the artisan gets paid fairly, and the craft stays alive. Since its founding, the brand has worked directly with traditional weavers and block printers across India, eliminating middlemen and sourcing every piece from the hands that made it.
India has over 35 lakh handloom weavers the second largest employment sector in rural India after agriculture. For decades, most of those weavers earned less per piece than the cost of the thread they used, because the chain between artisan and buyer had too many people in the middle taking a cut. theindiglobal was built to fix that.
Every bedsheet, every travel pouch, every cushion cover in the collection is sourced directly from artisan clusters weavers on traditional pit looms, block printers using carved wooden blocks that are in some cases over 100 years old, and craftspeople whose skills have been passed down across generations. A handloom king size bedsheet takes one artisan 3 to 5 days to complete a powerloom makes the same fabric area in under 10 minutes. theindiglobal chooses the 3 to 5 day version every time.
The brand works with artisan clusters across Rajasthan, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Rajasthan for hand block printing with natural AZO-free dyes. Odisha for its handloom weaving tradition. UP and Bengal for cotton textile craftsmanship going back centuries. Natural AZO-free dyes are used across the entire printed range they penetrate 2 to 3 fibre layers deep into cotton and hold colour through years of washing. Synthetic surface dyes are cheaper. theindiglobal does not use them.
The product range covers handloom cotton bedsheets, hand block printed bedsheets, travel pouches, cushion covers, dohars, tote bags, and pillow covers all in 100% pure cotton, all made by hand. The bedsheet range starts at ₹999. Every product listing states GSM, thread count method, fabric composition, and exact dimensions in inches because buyers deserve to know exactly what they are getting, and most Indian bedsheet brands do not tell them.
"India's handloom tradition is not a heritage project, it is a living industry. The weavers we work with are not preserving something old. They are running businesses that have been profitable for generations, and they will keep running them if the buyer at the end of the chain pays a fair price for a genuine product. That is what theindiglobal exists to do connect the artisan directly to someone who actually wants what they made."
