In a landmark step towards advancing global education and youth development, Dr. Datchanamoorthy Ramu (DMR), President of the Sustainable Development Council (SDC), has successfully brought the UNESCO Youth Education Research Centre (Centro di Ricerca sull’Educazione dei Giovani per l’UNESCO - CREGU) to India. The official Agreement of Cooperation was signed between CREGU Italy and the Sustainable Development Council (SDC) at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC), Bangkok, during the World Summit on Sustainable Health and Well-Being (WSSHW).
The agreement was signed by Dr. Giovanni Jing, Vice President of the UNESCO Youth Education Research Centre, and Dr. Datchanamoorthy Ramu, in the presence of Mr. Gokulnath Mathiazhagan, Secretary-General of the Sustainable Development Council, and Dr. Tommasa Maggio, Education Consultant at CREGU.
This collaboration marks a historic milestone in strengthening educational research and youth engagement initiatives in India under UNESCO’s global framework. The partnership aims to establish the CREGU–India Chapter, which will serve as a regional hub for advancing education for sustainable development, youth leadership, and research-driven policy innovation.
Speaking on the occasion, DMR said, “This partnership reinforces our commitment to empower youth and educators in India through globally aligned, research-based education models. Together with CREGU, we will foster a new generation of leaders committed to sustainability, peace, and human rights.”
The establishment of the CREGU–India Centre will pave the way for academic cooperation, youth-focused educational programs, and international exchange initiatives, contributing directly to UNESCO’s mission and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
