NEW YORK — Terra Innovatum Global N.V. (NASDAQ: NKLR) and Uvation Inc. today announced the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI) to launch a 1 megawatt-electric (MWe) pilot program utilizing the SOLO micro-modular nuclear reactor. The agreement includes a strategic option to scale the deployment up to 100 MWe to support Uvation’s data center ecosystem.
The collaboration addresses the widening gap between the energy demands of artificial intelligence (AI) workloads and the capacity of public utility grids. By deploying generation assets directly on-site ("behind-the-meter"), the pilot aims to secure continuous, high-density power for AI inference and edge deployments without reliance on traditional grid infrastructure.
Addressing the AI Power Bottleneck
Data center power consumption is projected to grow significantly by 2030, driven by the computational intensity of AI models. Current grid interconnection timelines often delay facility energization by years. This agreement positions nuclear micro-reactors as a solution to bypass these bottlenecks.
Under the terms of the LOI, the companies will deploy a single 1 MWe SOLO unit for the pilot phase. Successful implementation will trigger the option to expand to 100 units, providing a scalable power source for gigawatt-class infrastructure.
“Power shortages have been major forces in this industry’s project delays,” said Reen Singh, CEO of Uvation. “By integrating Terra Innovatum’s SOLO reactor into our future roadmap, we will look to secure immediate power along with a reliable, behind-the-meter energy source that enables scalable AI, inference, and edge deployments.”
Operational and Economic Impact
The SOLO reactor is designed as a commercially deployable unit using standard low-enriched uranium (LEU) fuel and off-the-shelf components to streamline regulatory compliance and supply chain logistics.
For data center operators, the integration of on-site nuclear power offers three primary operational shifts:
• Grid Independence: Eliminates exposure to regional grid instability and capacity caps.
• Cost Predictability: Stabilizes long-term energy costs in markets experiencing wholesale electricity price spikes.
• Carbon Neutrality: Provides baseload, zero-carbon energy necessary for meeting corporate sustainability mandates.
“As AI infrastructure outpaces today’s grid, the constraint is no longer processing power – it’s reliable, cost-effective power,” said Giordano Morichi, Founding Partner and Chief Business Development Officer at Terra Innovatum. “Uvation’s future commitment to behind-the-meter nuclear reflects a broader market reality: energy security now defines the speed at which AI can scale.”
