September 3, 2026 — KWT Spider, a developer of a desktop based technical SEO crawling application, released version 3.0 of its software today. The update makes the application available on macOS, supporting Apple Silicon and Intel processors, and on Linux, distributed as AppImage, deb, and rpm packages, extending it beyond the Windows only availability of earlier versions.
Alongside the platform expansion, the release includes several changes to the software itself:
• A crawl engine that stores data in a local database file rather than active memory, which the company states allows crawls exceeding 50,000 URLs to run without the slowdown associated with the earlier method
• A scoring feature that evaluates individual pages on how they may be read by artificial intelligence based search systems, checking factors including whether a page states an answer near the top of its content and whether structured data validates correctly
• A mode for reviewing locally stored HTML, PHP, and ASP files before they are published to a live website
• The ability to pause a crawl and resume it later from where it stopped, rather than restarting
"A crawler that only ran on one operating system meant a portion of the people who wanted to use it could not," said a spokesperson for the company. "Version 3.0 was an opportunity to open the software to more users and rebuild parts of it at the same time."
The company said the interface, crawl modes, and reporting structure are consistent across Windows, macOS, and Linux, so a session created on one platform can be opened on another. The release also retains reporting categories and crawl modes present in earlier versions, including support for full site crawls, fixed URL list audits, and generation of a file used by AI crawlers to map a site's content.
KWT Spider is offered in a free version limited to 250 URLs per session and a licensed version, tested past 50,000 URLs, that adds data export and the complete page scoring feature. Installers for Windows, macOS, and Linux are available from the company's website.
