Sencha today announced the release of Ext JS 8.0, an update to its enterprise JavaScript UI framework that introduces modern JavaScript support, new built-in components, and significant grid performance improvements.

Modern JavaScript Support
Ext JS 8.0 expands ECMAScript support up to ES2025 through improvements in Sencha Cmd and ExtGen. Developers can now write modern JavaScript natively — including let, const, and arrow functions — without polyfills or complex transpilation setups.

New Built-In Components
The release introduces two new native components:
▪ Digital Signature Pad — Captures signatures directly within forms or panels. Includes undo/redo, configurable pen settings, and export options in PNG, JPG, and SVG formats.
▪ QR Code Reader & Generator — Generates and reads QR codes for payments, contact sharing, Wi-Fi configuration, and more. No external dependencies required.

Grid Performance Improvements
Ext JS 8.0 introduces buffered column rendering, which renders only visible columns rather than the entire dataset. This significantly improves performance for applications handling tables with hundreds or thousands of columns.
A new Lockable Grid Plugin for the Modern Toolkit allows developers to freeze key columns while the rest of the grid scrolls horizontally — a long-requested feature for enterprise dashboards.

Accessibility Enhancements
Full ARIA support has been added for form fields and triggers, ensuring compatibility with major screen readers including JAWS, Narrator, TalkBack, and VoiceOver. The Classic Toolkit now includes tri-state checkbox support for TreePanel with automatic parent-child state synchronization.

Additional Updates
▪ Font Awesome 7 is now the default icon set for both Modern and Classic toolkits
▪ Dialog Boundary Control allows dialogs to operate within parent container boundaries
▪ Minimal breaking changes from Ext JS 7.x — only minor adjustments required
