Oklahoma City, OK — Putnam City High School is proud to welcome Walter Smith, a 15-year-old sprint-hurdle standout who is quickly becoming one of the most exciting young athletes in Oklahoma. With explosive speed, elite acceleration, and a rapidly developing hurdle technique, Walter is poised to make an immediate impact on the program and the statewide track scene.
Specializing in the 100m, 110m hurdles, and 300m hurdles, Walter brings a dynamic combination of natural talent and intense work ethic. His ability to dominate the first 100 meters — paired with his improving form over the sticks — has drawn the attention of coaches and athletes across the region.
Standing 5’9 and 133 lbs, Walter has the ideal build for both sprinting and hurdling. His stride is fluid, his turnover is fast, and his competitive drive is becoming a trademark. Coaches praise his focus, discipline, and willingness to push himself beyond expectations in pursuit of excellence.
Walter’s transfer to Putnam City High School represents a major step forward for both the athlete and the program. He joins a competitive environment with strong coaching and high expectations, and his arrival adds fresh energy, leadership, and potential to the team.
“I’m ready to put in the work, represent Putnam City the right way, and show everyone what I can really do,” Walter says. “This season is going to be big.”
With big goals and even bigger upside, Walter aims to cement his name among Oklahoma’s top young hurdlers and sprinters. As the 2025 season approaches, the state should keep a close eye on this rising star.
Walter Smith is here — faster, stronger, and ready to make his mark at Putnam City High School.
