MADRID, Spain — Spain will introduce joint deposit limits for licensed online gaming from 25 March 2027. The Council of Ministers approved the measure in June 2026. From that date, deposits made by the same person will be added up across every operator authorised by the Directorate General for Gambling Regulation (DGOJ), not counted separately on each site.

The reference caps published with the reform are €700 per day, €1,750 per week and €3,300 every four weeks. Players may lower those ceilings. They may not raise them. The limits sit on top of the controls each operator already applies.

Until now a player with accounts at several licensed brands could deposit up to each site's own cap. Under the new system, a deposit at one brand reduces the remaining room at all others for that period. Card, bank transfer, e-wallet or any other method counts toward the same total.

Trade bodies have warned that the rule will mainly hit a small group of high-deposit users, may favour larger brands and could push some activity toward unlicensed sites. Consumer groups have framed it as a public-health control. The deposit-cap change does not alter those scores. It does change how much a person can fund across the legal market in a given day, week or four-week block.
