West Coast Sourdough Sues Kaldeep Uppal for Breach of Contract Following Franchise Interference

West Coast Sourdough filed Case # 26CV010687 against Kay Uppal and his father, Kaldeep, for breach of contract.

West Coast Sourdough, Inc. filed a civil lawsuit today in Sacramento County Superior Court against Kaldeep Uppal. The case, WCSD, INC. vs UPPAL (Case # 26CV010687), alleges a significant breach of contract following the unauthorized departure of several franchise locations.

The lawsuit focuses on contractual violations that coincide with the emergence of Cali Rays, an unaffiliated entity. Despite having no legal connection to the West Coast Sourdough brand, Cali Rays locations have been observed using the same proprietary menu and specific ingredients that define the West Coast Sourdough experience.

Rumbles on the street say Kay Uppal has utilized deceptive tactics to draw franchise partners away from the brand. These efforts to fracture the franchise network and replicate the company’s proprietary system under a different name underscore the necessity of this legal action against his father, Kaldeep Uppal, for failing to adhere to established agreements. West Coast Sourdough remains committed to protecting its business model and ensuring all contractual obligations are strictly enforced.

The company continues to prioritize its mission of delivering authentic sourdough products and supporting its network of loyal franchise partners.
