Advancing Early Detection and Intervention in Learning Disorders.

Posted May 5, 2026 by andrewmandela

Grateful to receive the Troland Research Award for research enabling early detection and intervention in learning disorders, improving outcomes for students globally.

Early detection remains one of the most critical factors in addressing learning challenges. My research has focused on identifying neural markers that signal potential difficulties in reading development.

By studying how brain structures evolve over time, we can detect deviations from typical developmental patterns. This allows for earlier and more effective interventions, particularly for individuals with dyslexia.

The benefits of early intervention extend beyond academic performance. They contribute to improved confidence, engagement, and long-term success.

This work highlights the importance of applying scientific knowledge in ways that directly benefit individuals and communities. The Troland Research Award serves as a recognition of these efforts and a motivation to continue expanding them.
