As Executive Director of Human Resources and Human Capital at AvaCare Health Group Global she spearheaded the global development and centralisation of human capital operations in a multinational comprising 18 subsidiaries in 12 African countries, UAE, India and Kazakhstan. In this work, the coordination of people related functions to overall operational needs was involved.

She has been involved with Organisational Development, Learning and Development, Succession Planning, Performance Management and Employee Engagement at BDO. These roles enabled her to develop her hands-on experience of how talent strategies can contribute to the organisation's agendas.

Her approach takes a different view to people management, being more than just recruitment and administration. Having the right structures, accountability, leadership development and opportunities to put people's capabilities to use within the organisation are also essential.

In 2026, Deepa was honoured with the award of a Peace Ambassador Diploma and an Honorary Doctorate (Organisational Psychology, Strategic Management & Leadership) by Kennedy University.
