Lassy LL Chiwayo, who served in the role of South African statesman, entered into a new chapter in his career, the ones of an author.

His positions included MEC responsibilities for Sports, Culture and Recreation and for Finance and as Chief Whip.

His public life took him into local government later on. He was the Executive Mayor of Mbombela Local Municipality from 2008 to 2011, a time when the city was gearing up for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. There are other historical references to him in relation to Mbombela Stadium and preparations for the World Cup.

Chiwayo later served in diplomatic postings, including as South Africa's consul-general in Shanghai. More recent reports have also depicted him as the former diplomat and mayor.
