PRINCETON, N.J. – May 18, 2026 – BANC3, Inc. is proud to announce that its latest generation of SkyGrid™ Software Defined Radio (SDR) payloads has successfully reached Low Earth Orbit (LEO) as part of a collaborative mission supporting the U.S. Space Force and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).
As the orbital environment becomes increasingly contested and congested, the SkyGrid™ system provides unprecedented wideband RF spectrum surveillance. These payloads are designed to identify, categorize, and geolocate signals across a massive frequency range, providing tactical commanders with a clear picture of the "invisible" battlefield.
“Space is the ultimate high ground for signal intelligence,” said Fred Ilsemann, Vice President of Research & Development at BANC3. “Our SkyGrid™ SDRs are built for long-duration missions where low-SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) is critical. Achieving orbital verification for this next-gen hardware solidifies BANC3’s position as a tier-one provider of space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) technologies.”
The 2026 SkyGrid™ iteration features on-board AI processing, allowing the payload to filter and prioritize data before transmission. This "Intelligence at the Edge" approach reduces bandwidth requirements and ensures that only the most critical spectrum alerts are delivered to ground stations in real-time.
