Baar (August 3, 2026) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 099.26, reporting on the revision of Switzerland’s legislation governing food contact materials (FCMs) and articles.

RO 2026 374 amends the Ordinance of the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) on Materials and Articles Intended to Come into Contact with Food (RS/SR 817.023.21), and was issued on July 8, 2026, by Switzerland’s Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO).

Included in the amendment are the following key changes: revisions to permitted substances, testing and compliance requirements, recycling standards and transitional deadlines for products containing bisphenol A (BPA) and other affected products.

RO 2026 374 becomes effective on August 1, 2026, and will impact stakeholders across the FCMs and articles supply chain, including manufacturers, importers, retailers and other intermediaries operating in the Swiss market.
