August 24, 2026 — Gnosis Bridge: https://gnosisbridge.app/ - connects Ethereum and Gnosis Chain, allowing users to transfer supported stablecoins and ERC-20 assets between the two networks. The bridge is expected to remain an important access point as Gnosis Chain begins preparing for its transition to an Ethereum-settled rollup.
GnosisDAO recently approved GIP-153, a governance proposal to transform Gnosis Chain from an independent Layer 1 network into a ZK-proven rollup within the Ethereum Economic Zone. The proposal received 123,158 GNO votes in favor, exceeding the required governance quorum.
The approved direction aims to give Gnosis Chain applications closer access to Ethereum’s liquidity, security and smart contract ecosystem. Rather than launching a separate blockchain, the plan is designed to preserve the existing Gnosis Chain state, including user accounts, token addresses and transaction history.
Connecting Gnosis Chain With Ethereum
Gnosis Bridge currently provides dedicated routes for transferring assets between Ethereum and Gnosis Chain. Users can access the xDai Bridge for stablecoin transfers or OmniBridge for supported ERC-20 tokens through a single interface.
The proposed rollup architecture could make interactions between Gnosis Chain and Ethereum more closely integrated over time. Native Ethereum settlement and zero-knowledge proofs are intended to support a more connected environment for decentralized finance, payments and cross-chain applications.
For users, the long-term objective is to reduce some of the complexity commonly associated with moving liquidity between separate blockchain networks. Developers could also gain more direct access to Ethereum-based assets and applications without abandoning the low-cost execution environment associated with Gnosis Chain.
A Gradual Infrastructure Transition
The first version of the new Gnosis Chain architecture is provisionally targeted for late 2026 or early 2027. Additional capabilities, including expanded cross-network composability and real-time proving, are expected to be introduced in later development stages.
The specific future role of existing bridge contracts and validators has not yet been finalized. GIP-153 suggests that current bridge validators may participate in operating the rollup’s proof infrastructure, while later governance proposals will address remaining technical and economic details.
During this transition, Gnosis Bridge continues to provide an accessible route for users transferring supported assets between Ethereum and Gnosis Chain.
The approval of GIP-153 marks an important step toward deeper Ethereum alignment. As implementation progresses, Gnosis Bridge will remain closely connected to the broader discussion around liquidity, interoperability and the future of cross-chain transfers.
About Gnosis Bridge
Gnosis Bridge is a blockchain bridge interface for transferring supported assets between Ethereum and Gnosis Chain. It provides access to the xDai Bridge and OmniBridge infrastructure, enabling users to move stablecoins and ERC-20 tokens across the two networks.
