CarzRent Plans Self-Service Car Hire Kiosks at Tenerife South Airport

CarzRent is developing a self-service kiosk solution aimed at simplifying car hire pickup at Tenerife South Airport, helping travelers reduce waiting times and access rental information more efficiently.

 
Tenerife South Airport is one of the busiest gateways to the Canary Islands, welcoming millions of tourists each year. During high season, car hire desks often experience long queues, making vehicle pickup one of the first challenges travelers face after landing.

CarzRent, a car hire and car rental platform operating in Tenerife, is working on a self-service kiosk concept designed to improve the pickup experience at the airport. The initiative focuses on reducing delays, increasing transparency, and making the start of a trip smoother for arriving passengers.

The planned kiosks are intended to allow customers to complete key steps of their rental process independently. These include confirming bookings, verifying identity, and reviewing rental details before collecting a vehicle. By moving these steps to a digital self-service format, the system aims to reduce congestion at traditional rental counters.

CarzRent emphasizes that the kiosk solution is designed to support local car hire partners rather than replace them. The platform collaborates with selected local rental companies and applies consistent standards for vehicle quality and rental conditions. The kiosk technology is expected to improve operational efficiency while keeping service clear and predictable for customers.

Transparency is a central part of the project. Travelers using the kiosks will be able to review pricing, insurance options, and deposit requirements in advance, helping to avoid misunderstandings or unexpected costs at pickup.

Self-service technology has already become standard in many areas of air travel, such as check-in and baggage handling. Car hire kiosks reflect a similar shift toward automation and digital convenience at airports, responding to growing passenger volumes and changing traveler expectations.

Although the initial focus is on Tenerife South Airport, CarzRent notes that the technology could be expanded to other locations in the future. The company sees the kiosk project as part of a broader effort to modernize car hire services while continuing to work closely with local providers.
