Z TEXT LLC, the developer of Z TEXT, a privacy focused messaging application built on the BitcoinZ blockchain, has announced the development of a disposable messaging identity designed to let users communicate without registering a phone number, SIM card, or email address.
The proposed feature introduces a different approach to temporary messaging. Rather than relying on a burner phone or temporary telephone number, users would be able to create a disposable digital identity, communicate privately, and destroy the identity's local cryptographic key when it is no longer needed.
The development is outlined in the company's article, Disposable Private Messaging Without a Phone Number.

Rethinking Disposable Communication
Temporary phone numbers and burner phones have traditionally offered people a way to separate communications from their primary telephone number. However, these approaches still rely on telecommunications infrastructure, phone hardware, or services that may associate an identity with an account.
Z TEXT is developing an alternative that removes the telephone number from the identity creation process.
According to the company's announcement, the proposed disposable identity would cost $3 and would not require a phone number, SIM card, email address, or know your customer verification.
The goal is to give users a way to establish a temporary communication identity without first creating a conventional telephone based account.
By separating the messaging identity from a permanent phone number, Z TEXT aims to provide another option for people who want to limit the personal information they disclose when communicating online.
A Different Model for Message Persistence
One of the defining aspects of the proposed feature is the distinction between a disposable identity and the message itself.
Rather than treating identity destruction as equivalent to deleting a message, Z TEXT describes a model in which encrypted messages remain on the blockchain while access depends on the relevant cryptographic keys.
Under this approach, destroying an identity's key removes the ability to access messages associated with that key. The underlying blockchain data is not deleted.
If both participants eventually destroy their relevant keys and have not retained backups, the company says the associated messages would become permanently unreadable.
This approach differs from conventional messaging systems in which message availability and retention may depend on a company's servers, account policies, or deletion mechanisms.
The proposed feature is intended to give users more control over the lifespan of their messaging identities while maintaining the underlying persistence of blockchain data.
Built on Z TEXT's Privacy Focused Architecture
Z TEXT is a blockchain based messaging application that uses BitcoinZ shielded transactions and zero knowledge cryptographic technology.
The application is designed to operate without requiring users to register a telephone number or email address. Its architecture is intended to reduce reliance on centralized messaging infrastructure and limit the exposure of communication related information.
The disposable identity initiative builds on that existing approach by extending the concept of temporary communication beyond the message or account itself.
Instead of simply providing another temporary number, Z TEXT is developing a system in which the messaging identity can be created for a particular purpose and subsequently discarded.
The company positions this as a structural difference from services that provide temporary telephone numbers tied to a provider's account system.
An Alternative to Burner Phones and Temporary Number Services
Z TEXT's proposed disposable identity is intended to offer a different option for users who currently rely on burner phones or tempo.
