MALÉ, Maldives, October 13, 2026 – HolidayVibe Maldives, a travel agency in Malé licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, has launched MaldivesESIMs.com. The free website compares the tourist eSIMs and SIM cards that visitors can use in the Maldives. It lists 20 Maldives plans from six providers: the two Maldivian networks, Dhiraagu and Ooredoo, and the international eSIM apps Airalo, Holafly, Saily and Yesim. Each price shows the date it was checked on the provider’s own website.
The site’s first round of research turned up several details that many travelers miss:
Validity matters more than price. Dhiraagu and Ooredoo both charge $40 and $50 for their tourist plans. Dhiraagu’s $40 Traveler Lite plan lasts 10 days. Ooredoo does not publish how long its tourist plans last.
The same network can cost less elsewhere. Airalo’s Maldives eSIM runs on Dhiraagu and gives 20 GB for 30 days at $40.
Asia plans usually leave out the Maldives. The Asia and global plans from Airalo, Holafly and Saily, and Yesim’s Asia Pacific plan, include Sri Lanka but not the Maldives. Of the four apps, only Yesim’s Global Plus covers both countries on one plan, from $28.80 for 5 GB.
Unlimited data has limits. Holafly’s unlimited Maldives eSIM costs $53.90 for seven days but caps hotspot sharing at 1 GB a day.
The site also explains where phones get signal in the Maldives. Both networks say they cover inhabited islands and resorts. Signal comes and goes on boat transfers, and can drop at remote sandbanks and liveaboard anchorages. The team plans to publish its own dated coverage tests from islands and transfers as they are completed.
“Getting online after landing at Velana is part of nearly every trip we plan, and much of the advice online is out of date or written by the companies selling the plans,” said Abdulla Maseeh of HolidayVibe Maldives. “We built MaldivesESIMs.com to show the real numbers, straight from each provider, with the date we checked them.”
MaldivesESIMs.com includes:
A trip finder showing which plans last a whole stay
A table of the cheapest plan for 7, 10 and 14 days
Guides to each provider, the SIM card vs eSIM choice, and coverage at resorts, local islands and at sea
Some providers may pay the site a commission when readers buy through its links. The site says commission never decides which plans it includes or how it ranks them, and the two local networks, which pay nothing, can be its top pick.
