PHOENIX, AZ., May 15, 2026 — Medplace, the leading peer review and independent medical review platform for healthcare providers and insurers, today announced the appointment of Misty Shell, MBA-HCM, LPN, as Vice President, Clinical Strategy and Quality. Shell brings more than a decade of progressive healthcare operations leadership including senior roles at Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and a clinical background as a licensed practical nurse. In her new role, she will lead Medplace’s clinical quality strategy and help healthcare organizations of all sizes unlock the full value of peer review as a driver of patient safety and organizational excellence.
Shell joins Medplace having served in executive operations roles at Jordan Valley Community Health Center, an FQHC serving underserved communities in Springfield, Missouri, and at Summit Community Care Clinic, now known as Elevated Community Health, where she rose from Clinic Manager to Chief Operations Officer. That experience gave her firsthand insight into the resource pressures facing healthcare administrators - the constant challenge of delivering high-quality, compliant care while managing lean teams and tight budgets. Her track record spans community health, home care, hospice, dermatology, and dental settings, underscoring the breadth of her operational and clinical knowledge.
A core focus of Shell’s new role will be elevating how healthcare providers think about and operationalize peer review and quality programs. She is a strong advocate for treating clinical quality not as a compliance checkbox, but as a strategic lever - one that strengthens provider performance, reduces risk, and ultimately improves outcomes for patients.
“Having worked on both sides of the clinical and operational equation, I understand what it takes to run a quality program when resources are stretched. I also know that when done right, peer review isn’t a burden, it’s a strategic asset. I’m excited to help Medplace customers build quality programs that are not only compliant, but truly transformative for their organizations and the patients they serve.”
— Misty Shell, MBA-HCM, LPN, Vice President, Clinical Strategy and Quality, Medplace
“Misty represents exactly the kind of clinical and operational leadership that Medplace and our customers need. She has lived the realities of running care delivery under pressure, and she sees quality and peer review the way we do, as something that should empower providers, not burden them. We couldn’t be more excited to have her leading this work.”
— Jerrod Bailey, Founder and CEO, Medplace
Shell holds a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management (MBA-HCM) and is a Licensed Practical Nurse. She has been recognized among the America’s Best Nurses: Nurses to Watch by the American Health Council, reflecting a career defined by both clinical excellence and operational impact.
