Thane, Maharashtra: KP Dermatology in Vasant Vihar has introduced thread lift treatment at its Thane West clinic, adding a minimally invasive lifting option to a practice that has so far built its anti-ageing work around collagen-stimulating laser technology.
A thread lift uses fine, dissolvable sutures placed beneath the skin to reposition lax tissue upward. The threads are barbed along their length, so drawing them taut produces an immediate mechanical lift, while the body's healing response to the material stimulates collagen in the surrounding tissue over the following months. The threads themselves dissolve over roughly four to six months, with the collagen response continuing after they are gone.
The clinic says the addition fills a specific gap rather than replacing anything already on offer. Laser and energy-based treatments improve skin quality and firmness, but they do not reposition tissue that has genuinely descended.
"There is a point where the concern is no longer skin texture, it is skin position, and no amount of collagen stimulation lifts a jawline that has dropped," a clinic spokesperson said. "Until now we were honest with those patients that we did not have the right tool for it. Now we do, and we are equally clear about who does not need one."
Thread lifts at the clinic will be offered only after a face-to-face assessment, and the clinic has said it will continue to recommend laser-based treatment where sagging is not the primary concern. Patients with early, diffuse signs of ageing, expression lines, or volume loss rather than descent are expected to be directed to other options.
The clinic has also chosen to set expectations on recovery upfront. Published data on thread lifts records swelling in roughly a third of cases and bruising in around a quarter, along with a smaller proportion of patients who can see or feel the threads while the material settles. Most of these resolve within four weeks. KP Dermatology says patients will be told these figures at consultation rather than after the procedure.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia as a day treatment, with patients advised to plan for a few quiet days rather than the same-day return the phrase "lunchtime lift" tends to imply.
