The Hsinchu County Government’s ‘Hsinchu County x Malaysia | Startup & Innovation Delegation’ concluded its intensive business expansion mission in Malaysia on 10 September, with the delegation returning to Taiwan after a productive visit. Following a major industry matchmaking event that drew more than 100 participants and generated several initial expressions of interest in cross-border cooperation, the 10 startups continued with a series of visits focused on industry engagement and market entry. The delegation visited MRANTI Innovation Park, home of the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI), and Syntec Intelligence Technology, the Malaysian subsidiary of Hsinchu Science Park-based Syntec Technology. It also attended an international product launch in Kuala Lumpur hosted by AMC / Advanced Materials, a team from the Hsinchu Social Innovation Hub. Spanning national innovation policy, forward-looking technology and business dialogue, smart manufacturing site visits and sustainable materials, the programme helped connect Hsinchu startups with ASEAN supply chains and innovation ecosystem partners.

At MRANTI Innovation Park, widely recognised as one of Malaysia’s leading technology hubs, the delegation held in-depth discussions with MRANTI, Cradle and local innovation ecosystem partners. Discussions covered startup support mechanisms, funding opportunities, commercialisation pathways and access to market, while also exploring opportunities for future collaboration between Malaysian and Taiwanese startups, investors and industry partners. The exchanges helped Hsinchu startups better understand local market trends and the regulatory environment, while first-hand feedback from Malaysian experts provided a basis for refining product positioning and accelerating technology commercialisation.

The delegation then visited Syntec Intelligence Technology, which has established a strong presence in Southeast Asia, to examine how a leading Taiwan technology company has developed a smart manufacturing ecosystem overseas. Founded in Hsinchu, Syntec Technology began with core machine tool controller technologies and has since expanded into automation equipment and comprehensive smart factory solutions. Through detailed production-line tours and technical discussions, the delegation observed how mature Taiwan technologies are being applied in Southeast Asian manufacturing. The startups also held business discussions with local partners on smart factory automation integration, cloud platform and field validation, creating direct channels for potential technology cooperation.

The delegation also attended an overseas product launch hosted by AMC / Advanced Materials, a team supported by the Hsinchu Social Innovation Hub, under the theme ‘Replacing Plastics with Bamboo, Building a Sustainable Future.’ AMC / Advanced Materials presented 100% biodegradable, carbon-negative natural bamboo fibre materials, innovative bamboo-carbon fibre filament technology and an AI-based carbon reduction calculation model. It also demonstrated applications in unmanned vehicles, precision machinery and high-tech industries. The event attracted representatives from Malaysia’s business, government, academic, research and investment communities, highlighting the international competitiveness of Hsinchu startups in ESG and green technology.

Hsinchu County Magistrate Yang Wen-ke said that Hsinchu’s innovation momentum comes not only from semiconductors and other high-tech industries, but also from the diverse solutions developed by young entrepreneurs in response to forward-looking challenges such as ESG and smart transformation. This mission went beyond a conventional study visit. By engaging a national innovation park, drawing on the overseas manufacturing sites and business networks of Taiwan companies, and supporting a Hsinchu startup in hosting its own overseas technology launch, the programme presented a complete pathway from core research and development and industrial applications to cross-border commercialisation. It also demonstrated the County Government’s commitment to helping young entrepreneurs enter international markets through practical action.

Deputy Director Shen Jing-tao of the Hsinchu County Government Education Bureau added that the programme connected domestic selection, pre-departure capacity building, in-market business matching and in-depth industry visits. Its central objective was to help startups test overseas market demand first-hand, identify long-term partners and gain practical cross-border business experience. Going forward, the County Government will continue integrating the resources of the Hsinchu AIoT Accelerator, Hsinchu Startup Hub and Hsinchu Social Innovation Hub, while developing cross-border business matching platforms to help more young teams start from Hsinchu and build a stronger presence in Asian supply chains.
