The Solopreneur Boom and the Enterprise AI Stall

Polyphus turns your business idea into a running company powered by a team of AI agents, while creating a workspace where humans and AI seamlessly co-exist and work together. Founded by Mohammed Naveed Shariff and incorporated in December 2025.

Two shifts in the market look unrelated. Polyphus argues they are the same story.

The US now has roughly 29.8 million non-employer businesses generating about $1.7 trillion in revenue, and 117,060 of them crossed $1 million in 2023, nearly double 2021. Meanwhile Gartner expects more than 40% of agentic AI projects to be scrapped by 2027, and Stanford's 2026 AI Index finds fewer than 10% of organisations have deployed AI agents in any business function.

"Solo founders win because there is no coordination cost and one accountable human," says Mohammed Naveed Shariff, co-founder and CEO of Polyphus. "Enterprises stall because agents arrive as disconnected tools that share no context and leave no trail."

Shariff previously led growth at AI and Web3 ventures including OpenLedger and Bitplanet, helping carry projects past a combined market capitalisation of $300 million.

Polyphus is building Agent OS, an AI agent platform where a crew covering research, design, engineering, marketing, growth and support works inside one shared workspace, passing completed work along a continuous pipeline. Agents sit in channels beside human teammates. Every action is recorded, and the founder keeps approval rights over the decisions that matter. Details at www.polyphus.com.

"Companies built with humans and AI together, not one substituted for the other," Shariff says.
