GREATER KRUGER, SOUTH AFRICA, September 2026, Bundox Safari Co. has introduced its Live Wild & Conserve package, a five-day, four-night South African safari that combines traditional wildlife experiences with planned conservation learning and practical exposure to work taking place within private reserves. The itinerary includes stays at Bundox Explorer Camp in the Olifants West Nature Reserve and Khanya Tented Camp in the Olifants View Nature Reserve, within Balule. Both reserves form part of the wider Greater Kruger region but are separately managed protected areas, each responsible for conservation and wildlife management within its own environment.

Conservation Talks and Research
At Khanya Tented Camp, the itinerary includes a planned conservation talk with guides and the research team. Travellers are introduced to current conservation work, wildlife monitoring and ongoing research within the reserve. Topics can include animal movement, species behaviour, habitat pressures, field observations and the methods used to gather information about wildlife.
Camera-trap projects are one example. Remote cameras positioned within the reserve can record wildlife movement and activity over time, helping teams understand which species are using particular areas, when animals are active and how they move through the landscape.
The conservation talk gives travellers context around how this information is collected, why monitoring matters and how ongoing research contributes to a better understanding of the reserve.

Two Greater Kruger Reserve Experiences
The safari begins at Bundox Explorer Camp in the Olifants West Nature Reserve before continuing to Khanya Tented Camp in Olifants View Nature Reserve. Experiencing two separately managed reserves gives travellers insight into different environments, wildlife activity and conservation priorities. Although both reserves sit within the wider Greater Kruger landscape, conservation work takes place at reserve level and responds to the particular wildlife, habitat and management needs of each area.

Practical Conservation Activity
The itinerary also includes a Conservation Activity linked to Down2theWire, a project that repurposes recovered wildlife snares into bracelets and bangles. Snaring involves wire traps set to catch wild animals, often causing serious injury or death when animals become trapped. During the activity, travellers learn about the impact of snaring on wildlife and how recovered wire can be transformed into jewellery that helps support the rescue and rehabilitation of animals affected by snares. A Down2theWire bracelet or bangle is included as part of the package.
