Zyaku Posts Now Look Only as Finished as the Facts Allow

Zyaku now shows readers how far each post has really got, from still on the writer's phone to contested, and marks an article Independently checked only after a reviewer confirms it against a public source.

SAN FRANCISCO, 31 October 2026. Zyaku, the offline-first publishing platform for creators and journalists, with crisis alerts and emergency tools built in, has switched on a set of changes that make every post say plainly how much is known about it.

What's new:

- A post looks only as finished as the facts allow. A post in the feed now says when it is still only on the writer's phone, sending, not yet confirmed or contested, with one line on what that means. Zyaku calls this approach Derived Material, and it is now live across the app and the website.
- Independently checked means a reviewer checked it. An article is marked Independently checked only after a Zyaku reviewer, never the author, confirms it against a public source. Readers can open that source and read what was checked. An editor's workflow label is not shown as a fact-check.
- Honest when you are offline. If a post or article is not saved on your phone and you have no connection, Zyaku now tells you why it cannot open instead of saying it was not found.
- Clear terms before you pay. Wherever someone can start a paid plan, the price, how often it is charged, that it renews until cancelled, and where to cancel now sit right next to the button and again at checkout. Creator subscriptions show the date they are paid until and that they do not renew. Purchases are for adults; teenagers keep everything on Zyaku free.
- Less tracking. Every page on zyaku.com now serves its fonts from Zyaku itself, so opening the website no longer sends a visitor's IP address to Google. Update emails have a one-click unsubscribe.
- Music with credit. Creators can add openly licensed songs to posts, clips and videos. Every track shows its artist and licence, and the credit links to the original.
- More open news sources. The News screen now also draws on the GDELT Project's open index of world news, alongside publishers' public feeds, and credits it with a link.

"Most apps show a post as done the moment you press the button. Sometimes it is still sitting on your phone, and sometimes nobody has checked it," said Rohit Kashyap, Founder & CEO of Zyaku. "We would rather tell people exactly how far something has got, even when the honest answer is 'not yet'."

The changes build on Zyaku's offline-first core: posts written without a connection publish exactly once when the signal returns, and the outbox shows what is still on the phone. The first emergency message written without signal sends by itself when signal returns, even if Zyaku is closed (Chrome on Android, or Chrome or Edge on a computer); later ones wait for the person to press Send. Zyaku also offers an emergency Medical ID, I'm Safe check-ins, an offline shelter and hospital map, and an Offline Emergency Assistant. Zyaku Mesh, which passes short messages from phone to phone, is in testing and not switched on for everyone.

Safety note: Zyaku is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number first.
