• ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
• ½ cup vegetable oil
• 2 large eggs

For the Cream Cheese Frosting
• 250 g cream cheese, softened
• ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
• 3 cups icing sugar

Method
• Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease and line two 8-inch round cake tins with butter paper.
• In a bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and baking powder.
• Set aside.
• In another large bowl, beat the butter, oil, and sugar until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
• Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add few drops of vanilla essence and red food colour until the batter develops a rich red shade.
• Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
• Mix gently until everything is just combined.
• Finally, add the vinegar and fold it into the batter.
• Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake tins.
• Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
• Allow the cakes to cool in the tins for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
• Let them cool completely before frosting.

Frosting Preparation
• For the frosting, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
• Gradually add the icing sugar and continue beating until light and fluffy.
• Add few drops of vanilla essence.

Assembly
• Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread an even layer of cream cheese frosting over it.
• Place the second layer on top and cover the top and sides with the remaining frosting.
