Amb. Dr. Deepa Chhagan Lalloo Highlights the Value of Entrepreneurial Adaptability.

Flexibility is a key factor in entrepreneurship, necessary in order to meet shifts in customer needs, business requirements and potential sales opportunities. Amb. Dr. Deepa Chhagan Lalloo Sunaina is an entrepreneur herself and can offer valuable insights into this area.

In 2019, she established Bakeology Studio, which commenced its business in 2020. Her initiative was targeted at applied skills training and vocation education with an emphasis on hospitality and food and beverage. It eventually spanned several concepts and built up to four retail outlets.

Starting and growing a business means constantly assessing the needs of customers, costs of operation, service delivery and available skills. Entrepreneurs frequently have to take decisions with limited resources and focus on quality, commercial capability and evolving market conditions.

Her operational experience is added to her career as founder and MD of Altius Global Advisory, specialising in organisational psychology, human capability and business performance. Deepa's wider career has encompassed multinoal human capital leadership, organisational design and workforce transformation.

Of her oversight experience at Ava Care Health Group Global, she spearheaded human capital operational functions and established a centre of competence on operational global functions for 18 subsidiaries across 12 African countries, the UAE, India and Kazakhstan. This exposed her to a global view on organisational alignment and operational complexity.

Her educational qualifications are MSc – Organisational Psychology – University of London and BA – University of the Witwatersrand – Johannesburg.

In 2026, Kennedy University awarded Deepa a Peace Ambassadorship and an honorary doctorate in her specialisations in Organisational Psychology, Strategic Management and Leadership.

Her career aligns entrepreneurship with the larger issue of how to create flexible organisations.
