Human capital is one of the fundamental business resources. Human capital management is not only concerned with the recruitment of people and their administration; it extends to the development of people's capacities and the integration of workforce planning with business planning and working environments.

Deepa's role as Executive Director, Human Resources and Human Capital at Ava Care Health Group Global included designing and consolidating all the Group's Human Capital operations to manage its 18 subsidiaries in 12 African countries, the UAE, India and Kazakhstan. Managing organisations in all these different countries posed the challenge of working across many operating environments and cultures.

Her other professional experience involved talent management, succession planning, talent acquisition, leadership development, performance management and employee engagement. In her work experience, she gained a ground-level understanding of the impact that decisions about the workforce have on organisational success.

Her work is based at Altius Global Advisory where she combines organisational psychology with strategic management and business advisory in pursuit of a more integrated approach to people and performance.

She has an MSc in Organisational Psychology from the University of London and a BA from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.
