Lassy LL Chiwayo in His Own Words a career bridging the political landscape in the course of democratic governance, public administration, local government, international relations and publishing.

His career began with the anti apartheid struggle in South Africa. Chiwayo was arrested in 1985 and was imprisoned on Robben Island from 1987 to 1990.

He entered the new democratic government after the demise of apartheid as a senator for the province of Mpumalanga from 1994-1996. Subsequently, his portfolio included MEC for Sports, Culture and Recreation and MEC for Finance for the Province of Mpumalanga from 1997-1999.

After leaving the cabinet he was appointed Chief Whip of the Provincial Legislature of Mpumalanga from 1999-2001. His career in government at provincial level involves legislature coordination, government administration, matters related to culture and sport and public finance.

His public service in local government was as Executive Mayor of Mbombela Local Municipality from 2008-2011; a period associated with activities in relation to the preparations for and the hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

His career was further defined by diplomatic service responsibilities in, amongst others, Central East Asia and in the regional organisations from 2011-2012.

Chiwayo now adds to an already diverse public career as an author with this publishing collaboration with GlobalX Publications. This move to publishing provides another platform for imparting and recording knowledge gained and experience as well as sharing ideas.
