Baar (September 16, 2026) – SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 122.26, highlighting Gibraltar's Chemicals Regulations 2026 (LN. 2026/183).
Published on July 13, 2026, the Chemicals Regulations 2026 establish a framework for the management of chemical substances, whether supplied on their own, in mixtures or in articles. The Regulation was made under the powers granted by the Treaty on Gibraltar and the European Union Act 2026 (Act No 2026-11).
The Regulation incorporates provisions from two key EU regulations into Gibraltar’s domestic law: Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP Regulation).
The Chemicals Regulations 2026 affect stakeholders across the consumer products supply chain, including manufacturers, importers, retailers and other intermediaries operating in Gibraltar, and became effective on July 15, 2026.
SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 122.26 includes a useful table outlining key provisions of the new law.
Stakeholders are encouraged to refer to the original SafeGuardS 122.26 for more details.
