Hartek Group, one of India's leading Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) companies, today reaffirmed its role in strengthening the nation's power infrastructure through an integrated suite of transmission, substation, and distribution solutions. As India's electricity demand accelerates alongside rapid industrialization, urbanization, and the push toward clean energy, Hartek Group continues to deliver the high-voltage backbone and smart-grid capabilities the country needs to keep pace.
Established in 1991, Hartek Group operates across three strategic business units — Power Systems, Renewables, and Power Distribution Products — giving it end-to-end capability across the energy value chain, from extra-high-voltage substations to renewable power evacuation and low- and medium-voltage distribution equipment. The company currently manages an energy portfolio spanning roughly 10 GW across these divisions.
A Track Record Built on Scale and Voltage Depth
Hartek's Power Systems division ranks among India's top EPC firms specializing in high and extra-high voltage substations for power transmission and distribution. The division has completed more than 400 turnkey EHV and HV substation projects across 21-plus Indian states, with execution expertise spanning voltage levels from 66 kV all the way up to 765 kV — a range few Indian EPC players can match.
Recent milestones underscore this momentum. The company was awarded a project by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) involving the extension of a 765 kV air-insulated substation along with associated 400/220 kV works in Gujarat, supporting the Central Electricity Authority's vision for a stronger, more interconnected national grid. High-capacity 765 kV substations are critical to cross-regional power flow and grid stability, and today make up close to a quarter of India's total transformation capacity.
Commenting on the company's role in expanding the national grid, Sanjeev Gupta, Director – Technical at Hartek Group, said the company is proud to support PGCIL's efforts to strengthen the National Grid and remains committed to serving customers through high-voltage substations and transmission solutions.
Most recently, Hartek Group secured substation and transmission orders worth ₹735 crore spanning key power and industrial hubs across states including Jammu, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh — reinforcing the company's nationwide execution footprint. Simarpreet Singh, Executive Director and CEO of Hartek Group, noted that as renewable capacity and industrial demand continue to scale, resilient and well-integrated grid infrastructure becomes increasingly essential.
Integrating Renewables and Smart Distribution Into the Grid
Beyond transmission and substations, Hartek Group's Renewables business has connected more than 10 GW of solar capacity to the national grid, placing the company among India's top solar EPC players. This work includes dedicated pooling substations and evacuation infrastructure tailored to the more decentralized, variable nature of solar power generation, along with real-time monitoring and flexible grid-integration solutions.
At the distribution end, Hartek's Power Distribution Products division — manufactured at a state-of-the-art facility in Mohali — supplies 11kV and 33kV medium-voltage switchboard panels, low-voltage switchboard panels, control relay panels up to 220kV, compact substations, and busbar trunking systems. As an authorized system integrator, this division equips utilities, contractors, and industries with the last-mile infrastructure needed to translate grid-level power into reliable supply for consumers and businesses.
The company is also expanding its focus on digital technologies, including SCADA-based monitoring and control, grid-synchronized Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substations suited to space-constrained urban environments such as Punjab. These capabilities support grid flexibility and resilience as India integrates growing volumes of renewable energy.
Building India's Next-Generation Power Backbone
By combining transmission, substation, and distribution expertise under one integrated EPC framework, Hartek Group is positioning itself as a long-term partner in India's grid modernization journey — supporting the country's Net Zero ambitions, powering smart cities and electric vehicle infrastructure, and strengthening national energy security.
